Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Barry;
I read everything that yu sent and I thank you. Angus b. 1810 probably came from somewhere in Scotland. I also found Thomas Livingstone b. June 2, 1860 s/o Laughlin Livingstone b.1822 in Low Point. Thomas lived 25 years in Joggins, N.S. He is buried in Ragged Reef died March 8, 1925. Laughlin was the son of John Livingston 1807 and Ann McGillivray of Low Point. My 3rd great grandparents.
Joggins was designated a World Heritage Site last year. It is south of Amherst, N.S.
Thanks again for all your work, Barry.
Regards;
Roberta

Hi Roberta,
The family tree website that Barry mentioned stated that Angus Livingston b.1810 of Wentworth County, not surprisingly came from Tobermory, Mull Scotland. Tobemory the main port in Mull was also the point of departure for neighbouring Morvern parish Livingstons.
regards,
Donald

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Donald;
I am researching John Livingstone who died in Wentworth County May 21, 1874; widower, age 92. Informant Angus Livingstone.
I found a John Livingston in Craignish, Argyll, b. 1782 married to Mary Carmichael, b. 1780.
Children:
Marrion c. Jan 7, 1798
John....b. June 17, 1806
Allan....b. Nov. 4, 1810
Margaret..b. July 14, 1812
Donald.....b. Aug. 18, 1814 ..........all born in Craignish
John Livingstone's parents are Duncan Livingstone and Sarah Leitch, married Jan 20, 1776, in Craignish.
Parents of Duncan; father, Duncan b. c. 1723 and Katherine Maxwell b.c. 1727
Have these people been, previously, searched?
There is a Donald Livingston b. 1873, Whycocomagh; parents Duncan Livingston and Kate Morrison. I wonder if there is a connection.

Roberta

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Roberta,
That Duncan who was married to Kate Morrison I am fairly certain is the son of Alexander Livingston and his wife Ann Livingston of Whycocomagh. Both John and Kate of Mull River and Alexander and Ann of Whycocomagh had sons named Duncan I knew from the census records and the info Dr. St. Clair sent me. I see that Duncan b. abt. 1846 in Nova Scotia married a Catharine in February of 1871 so I guess that is his Kate Morrison.
Would the informant of John Livingstone's death be his son Angus Livington b. 1810? You, Jewel or Barry mentioned earlier an Angus Livingston b. 1810 in Argyll, Scotland that lived in Wentworth County, Scotland. I just wondered if that was the same Angus and that was his father that died. Angus and John should be in the 1881 Census I would think. Perhaps the census records from Wentworth County could give a sense of who was in the original pioneer family of this John Livingston of Wentworth County who I dont think I am familiar with. Sounds like you found a new one Roberta. I dont know if that is the same family that lived in Craignish. You definitely got someone the same age as that John to be sure. I cant say for certain at this point.
Where did we come across a Leitch before? Do you ever get a sense of Deja vu? Perhaps it was someone else I was researching recently.
regards,
Donald

Hi Donald;
The only Angus I could find was born in PEI and was killed by a 'Blast' at age 20, June 25, 1866 at Waverly N. S. well before John 1782 died in 1874. Angus is listed as the son of S. Livingston - Samuel, I think. PEI.

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Roberta,
I would think that John or Angus of Wentworth County, Nova Scotia came not from Craignish Parish but rather from Tobermory or Kilninian Parish in Mull. Angus Livingston according to the family info we have seen was born 1810 at Tobermory, Mull. Regarding the John Livingston born 1782 who died in Wentworth County that may be the father of Angus of Wentworth County, Nova Scotia I suspect he also is from Mull. I had some difficulty finding a John Livingston born 1782 from Mull but eventually found a family submission from the LDS site that stated that a John Livingston was born 20th January 1782 in Kilninian Parish son of Druffus Livingston and Mary Campbell. Could that be the Duffus Livingston we saw in the old 1779 Argyll census at Mull? That name kinda stood out when I first saw it. Dont see too many Duffus Livingstons. If so and I dont know for certain that is it would link the Angus Livingston b.1810 born in Mull, Scotland and a resident of Wentworth County, NS and John Livingston who died in 1874 in Wentworth County, NS at the age of 92 Informant: Angus Livingston. I suspect this is yet another Mull family that settled in Nova Scotia. I could not find any birth or baptismal records for Angus Livingston but I assume that the family who submitted the info and kept a family tree had information that he was born in 1810 in Mull or Tobermory, Mull. I suspect the family departed from Tobermory but were actually from Kilninian Parish in Mull but I have no way of proving that. Do you remember seeing Duffus Livingston in the records at Mull in 1779?

Donald

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Donald;
Sure I know of Duffus married 1767. I determined that he was my 5th great grandfather on the old forum; then I got be-fuddled and bogged down in minutia. He was mentioned by Rob. Livingston in one of his old posts.
Well, I don't know about that John, Donald. Duffus is Duffice in the 1779 Census with John age 8 and Donald age 1. House # 93 Locality: Arin 17790327. Married Mary Campbell. No Angus born to Duffus, however. Children Mary, Christina, Donald, Catherine, John: although John was born Jan 20, 1782. The first Mary, Donald and John must have died.
Let me check some more.
Regards;
Roberta

Hi Roberta,
Yikes that John in your record is pretty close though if not quite seemingly born in 1782. It is all somewhat nebulous I realize but I suspect this family came from Mull whether the Duffus connection is correct.

Donald
