Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Donald;
I have, this day, contacted the Province of Nova Scotia. I asked the question: while Wentworth is listed as being in Cumberland can you tell me if there ever was a Wentworth County.
Regards;
Roberta

Hi Donald;
For the record: in the reply from NSARM; Cumberland County was created a county in Nova Scotia , with this name in 1759. Wentworth and Wentworth Centre communities are in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. Wentworth was named in honour of Lieutenant-Governor Sir John Wentworth (1792-1808). Wentworth was never a county in Nova Scotia. Westmorland County is the adjoining county but Westmorland is in New Bruswick and Cumberland is in Nova Scotia.

Hi All
And the search continues for Ann Capstick. I did a lookup for the email address capstick@ca.inter.net.
and it does not exist anymore. Other options are I did a 411 lookup for Ann and I see an A Capstick in Sydney and there is a telephone number. Another otion is to subscribe to the Capstick mailing list and post an inquiry about her whereabouts.

Hi Roberta,
Thanks for that. And there presumingly is Allan's son Hugh. David Michael has documentation of his great grandfather Hugh in the States indicating that Allan of Lot 65 was indeed his father. Lot 65 mine you is a big piece of land but we have information that Allan is also infact buried in the old cemetery where Donald and Mary Livingston's children and family are buried at Canoe Cove there in QUeens County so if so one would think naturally that Allan was part of that family. We will just have to see what can found out from land records and wills and that sort of thing. I am curious if there is any early land records or any other township records, township settlement maps, atlases that could possibly link one of Donald and Mary's sons of Nine MIle Creek, Lot 65, QUeens County to Allan Livingston. Perhaps the PEi Archivists might have some suggestions. Lot 65 apparently is the name of the Township.
regards,
Donald

Hi Roberta,
Ok Bingo. I think figured out another way we could verify that the Allan Livingston that found in the census is a descendant of Donald and Mary. In addition to Hugh that went to Massachussett there were several family members of ALlans family who did not. Some of their descendants still living in the Lot 65 area might have proof that they are descendants of Donald and Mary.

Donald

Hi Donald;
Yes, John Collins recorded that Janet McDonald Livingston; Allan's wife, did leave a will.

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Roberta,
Another thought occurred to me how we can prove Allan is Donald and Mary's grandchild. Find him in the Canoe Cove Cemetery. Born abt. 1814 or 1816 and then determine which lot he is located on. If he is buried beside Donald and Mary's family or with Donald and Mary's family then chances are he is with that family as families often were buried in the same section or at least in a family plot. Not always but it might be a cluster of them buried in the same section. You follow my drift. Maybe we can get a hold of the Canoe Cove cemetery records.

Donald

Re: Nova Scotia/PEI Livingstone Research
Hi Roberta,
Based upon John Collins detailed research it looks fairly straightforward. Allan Livingston b.1814 or 1816 was a farmer located on a family lot 60 acres at Nine Mile Creek. There is a map as far back as 1863 that he is farming on a lot that was previously Duncan Livingston's son of Donald and Mary The older son John was located elsewhere. It appears that this Allan Livingston received his father Duncan property. Seems improbable that another Livingston from Scotland would have taken it over. Looks like a family thing to me. I dont know when his probable father Duncan b. 1772 died just that he died before 1841. There is also an 1880 Atlas of lot 65 which John mentioned.
So all is not lost.
regards,
Donald
